Tofino's Annual Events

FEAST! | May - June: A month long series of events held on the west coast by local restaurants, chefs, farmers, fisherman and foragers showcasing the abundance of local seafood that this area has to offer. The Tofino Ucluelet Culinary guild also partners with "guest chefs" and many accomodation, tour and activity providers to celebrate seafood in these unique events .

Tofino Food & Wine Festival | First weekend in June: This annual festival is set in Tofino Botanical Gardens and is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Featuring live music, creations from local chefs paired with wine samples from wineries representing all areas of British Columbia.

Beer Fest | End of September: This annual event is held at Weigh West Resort. Featuring live music, Oktoberfest style entertainers and a selection of breweries to choose from.

Surf Contests | There are several surf contests in Tofino each year such as the Volcom Beaverfish, Ripcurl Stew & the world class 6 Star O'Neill Coldwater Classic series. Dates can change due to weather and wave conditions check with Live To Surf for the next contest.

Skate Contests | There is usually atleast one skate contest every year inlcluding the Canada Day Skate contest. Check with Live To Surf for the next contest. |

Tofino Fishing Derby's | Reel in a big one and take home a prize in one of the annual Tofino fishing derbies such as Brendan Morrison's Saltwater Classic.

Pacific Rim Whale Festival | March: Celebrating the northbound migration of over 20,000 grey whales. This two-week-long festival includes parades, feasts, lectures, and prime whale watching opportunities.

Shorebird Festival | May: Featuring speakers, field trips, and thousands of shorebirds that come on their migration path to feed on this areas beaches and the mudflats of Browning Pass Inlet.

Lantern Festival | August: Wonderful display of hand made lanterns in Tofino Botanical Gardens. Walk through the gardens and see the creations. This is an annual fundraiser for the Raincoast Education Society. |

Carving on the Edge Festival | Mid September: Showcasing traditional and contemporary explorations of west coast carving with exhibits, forums, feasts, family programs and demonstrations.

Earth Day | Third week of April: Come to Tofino for Earth Day! A fun filled weekend of events to celebrate the earth.

Canada Day | July 1st: Come to the village green for beer gardens, skate contest, kids games, live music and barbeque. In the evening, watch the fireworks off the First St. Whiskey Dock. |

New Years | Jan 1st: Among many other special events such as galas; dinner and dancing at local restaurants, Pacific Sands puts on a great fireworks show on Cox Bay and Ocean Village Beach Resort does on McKenzie Beach as well. |

Polar Bear Swim | Jan 1st: A refreshing way to start the new year while visiting Tofino. Typically held in the morning at North Chesterman. |

Edge to Edge Marathon | June: Starting in Tofino and finishing in Ucluelet, this seems crazy but people do it every year. Marathon consists of full and half marathon categories as well as relay. Put your endurance to the test or come and support your favourite runner.

Clayoquot Island Gardens | May: Normally not open to the public, these gardens welcome visitors each year for one weekend in May. Free boat transportation is provided from the First Street Wharf. Don't forge to check out "Rhodo Land". |
